Drought! Not quite yet in Worcester.
Drought! Not quite yet in Worcester. We could potentially be in Stage 1 drought at the end of August but Acting City Manager Eric Batista says we are at 79% capacity and right now he just asks that residents think about water use but nothing mandatory.
The city is looking for a developer for the Denholm building. He does say there has been some initial interest. It will most likely be first floor retail and apartments on top. He would also think it is possible a portion could be affordable housing. The City Council is looking at inclusionary zoning but that is not in place at this time.
Batista told Talk of the Commonwealth that the owner of the Mill Street apartments, that had the roof cave in, is in talks with the contractor. The ACM also told us that the city strongly disagrees with the $14.6 million jury verdict against Worcester and that the issue is not settled.
