The Worcester chapter of the NAACP was part of a coalition that sued the city of Worcester over how the school committee is elected.

The city settled the lawsuit and is moving forward with a new system that will see six district councilors and two at large.  At present the school committee is made up of six at-large members.  The Mayor will remain as the chair of the school committee.

Fred Taylor, President of the Worcester chapter of the NAACP, joined us in studio to talk about the decision and what he sees going forward.

About the NAACP

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, thousands of dedicated members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans.
