Gas (Station) Panic?
Worcester Conservation Commission voted Monday night against having a gas station at 75 Quinsigamond Avenue
The Worcester Conservation Commission voted Monday night against having a gas station at 75 Quinsigamond Avenue in the city. Not so fast says City Manager Ed Augustus. Speaking on the Talk of the Commonwealth with Hank Stolz on Radio Worcester, the City Manager questioned if the commission had the power to stop the gas station saying he doesn’t believe they have the legal authority to make the decision they did. “The conservation commission is not there to make policy. They’re there to interpret the regulations as it relates to the conservation commission and deciding to ban gas stations in the city of Worcester isn’t within the jurisdiction of the conservation commission.” The Zoning Board of Appeals has already given its approval to the project which will see electric charging stations and a convenience store along with the pumps.
