Oxford’s Geoffrey Esper ate 47.5 hot dogs in ten minutes to take second place in Nathan’s Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. Joey Chestnut scarfed down 63 hot dogs and buns for first place. Esper overcame stale buns and a protester who jumped the stage to keep his focus and earn $5,000. Unlike Chestnut who does this for a living, Esper teaches school at Bay Path Vocational Technical High School in Charlton for his day job. Esper told Hank he’s ready for the Radio Worcester eating challenge and hopes it will involve pizza.
