We are very excited to announce to you the date and details for our upcoming The 6th Worcester Black Tie Gala. The exciting and much anticipated event will take place on April 15, 2023 at the Beechwood Hotel, 363 Plantation Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. The evening will begin with a 6:30 pm social hour, wine tasting, and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing. The Odd Fellows Home is honored to announce that Dr. Charles Steinberg, President, Worcester Red Sox is the recipient of the Odd Fellows Home Salute to Achievement Award for his service, support and professionalism throughout the Worcester community, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Fred Taylor, President Worcester Chapter NAACP, spoke with us after the release of the Tyre Nichols video. Five Memphis police officers have been charged with Nichols murder. Taylor said a civilian review board with subpoena power is needed and he favors getting rid of qualified immunity. He said enough about the excuses over body cameras. We need those body and dash board cameras yesterday. Taylor said he will continue to speak with City Councilors and hopes to have an honest conversation with the City Manager and Chief of Police.

Worcester City Manager Eric Batista talks about the development around Polar Park and explains how the city is paying for the project. The City Manager is adamant that the city is able to pay for Polar Park. Worcester created a District Improvement Finance area around the ballpark. Money generated in that DIF District are applied to the park and that revenue offsets the debt within the ballpark. It does not pull away from taxes in other areas of the city.
