Hank visits with Dean Bowen from the Worcester State University Wellness and Fitness Center tells us how the community along with the student athletes and student body use the center. Dean has been part of the center since it opened in 2016. Fred Taylor, President Worcester Chapter NAACP, spoke with us after the release of the Tyre Nichols video. Five Memphis police officers have been charged with Nichols murder. Taylor said a civilian review board with subpoena power is needed and he favors getting rid of qualified immunity. He said enough about the excuses over body cameras. We need those body and dash board cameras yesterday. Taylor said he will continue to speak with City Councilors and hopes to have an honest conversation with the City Manager and Chief of Police.

Worcester City Manager Eric Batista talks about the development around Polar Park and explains how the city is paying for the project. The City Manager is adamant that the city is able to pay for Polar Park. Worcester created a District Improvement Finance area around the ballpark. Money generated in that DIF District are applied to the park and that revenue offsets the debt within the ballpark. It does not pull away from taxes in other areas of the city.

Congressman James McGovern commented on the U.S. and Germany sending tanks to the Ukraine

The U.S. and Germany are sending tanks to the Ukraine. Sending the M1 Abrams tanks will surely antagonize Moscow. President Biden had previously said no to requests for the tanks. Biden said this was not an offensive threat to Russia but was necessary for defense. Congressman James McGovern commented on the move to the Talk of the Commonwealth morning show. He said all this comes to an end if Putin just recognizes the sovereignty of Ukraine. To do nothing and just give in to Putin begs the question where will he go next. He acknowledges Putin is unpredictable and that there is the threat of nuclear weapons. McGovern also discusses the most recent mass shooting and the discovery of more classified documents. This time in the home of former VP Mike Pence.
